FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University Track and Field head coach
Andrew Gerard has announced that
Reynaldo Radlin will join the Patriot coaching staff as an assistant coach focusing on sprints and hurdles.
"We're thrilled to have Coach Radlin join our staff," said Gerard. "When looking for hires, one of the top things I look for is "value added" at the programs where they have been, their record of success, and the remarkable successes of the student-athletes under his tutelage at Troy and Grand Valley stood out immediately."
Most recently, this past winter season Radlin helped coach Grand Valley State to the 2022 NCAA DII Men's National Indoor Track and Field Championship and, for his efforts, was honored as the 2022 Men's Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year for both the Indoor and Outdoor seasons.
Radlin joined the college coaching ranks in 2015, most recently as an assistant coach at Grand Valley State. In four years for the Lakers, he coached teams that won three National Championships (Men's Indoor 2022, Men's Outdoor 2021 and Women's Indoor 2021) and five that finished as runners-ups. In the process, athletes under his direction won six National titles (5 individual/1 relay), broke 13 school records, and earned 75 First-team All-American selections. In both 2019 and 2022, Grand Valley State was honored as the USTFCCCA Division II Men's program of the year.
In 2015, Radlin started working as a graduate assistant for Troy before quickly becoming the assistant coach for sprints, hurdles and jumping in 2017. He helped five athletes qualify for the NCAA East Prelims and helped a relay team earn All-Sun Belt honors.
Radlin's coaching career began at Pinnacle High School in Phoenix, where he quickly proved himself. He led the team to receive district runner-up at the Paradise Valley District Championships in the 2014-15 season and helped three athletes qualify for the Arizona Division I State Meet.
A native of Stafford, Virginia, Radin was a two-time captain and six-time All-ACC athlete (2010-13) at UNC Chapel Hill. He was a four-time NCAA East Regional qualifier and NCAA qualifier for the 4x400m relay in 2012. Also, he was named the ACC Champion in the 4x400m relay in 2013 and a two-time ACC Champion in the 400m hurdles in 2011.
Radlin graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science from UNC, and earned his Master's degree in sport and fitness management from Troy.
