Six Patriots Named VaSID Academic All-State

FAIRFAX, Va. – Six George Mason student-athletes have been named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State team for their efforts in competition and in the classroom.
 
Jack Bolz (Men's Volleyball), Jacquee Clabeaux (Women's Swimming), Taylor Dadig (Softball), Annabelle Eastman (Women's Cross Country/Distance), Grace Moody (Rowing), and Kamron Smith (Baseball).
 
To qualify, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore with a minimum grade point average of 3.25.  VaSID selected 220 student-athletes for All-Academic honors across 37 schools in Virginia.

Jack Bolz, R-So., Park Ridge, Ill., 3.85, English (Writing and Rhetoric), Men's Volleyball
 
Bolz earned All-EIVA Second Team honors. The opposite led Mason in kills (331) in 2022. Bolz led the conference in kills per set (3.52) and second in the conference in kills. The Park Ridge, Ill. native tallied three career EIVA Player of the Week awards during the 2022 campaign. Bolz set several career highs during the season, but most notably was his 22 kills on 59 attempts along with 15 digs in the record-breaking match with SFC on 3/26/22. Bolz tied his previous career high 21 kills set during the 2022 season four different times.

Bolz is a two-time Mason Provost Scholar-Athlete.
 
Jacquee Clabeaux, Sr., Fairfax, Va., 4.00, Biology, Women's Swimming (second year)

Clabeaux, a native of Fairfax, Va., won four medals at the 2022 A-10 Championships.  She claimed the A-10 championship in the 100-breaststroke, setting new conference record with a time of 1:00.61. She captured the silver at the A-10 Championships in the 200-breaststroke with a NCAA-B time of 2:12.62, and also won two relay gold medals at the A-10s (400-free relay and 400-medley relay).

A biology major, Clabeaux competed in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the 2021 U.S. Open in Greensboro, N.C. 

Clabeaux is a three-time Mason Provost Scholar-Athlete.
 
Taylor Dadig, Sr., Pittsburgh, Pa., 3.960, Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Softball
 
Dadig was a force to be reckoned with in her last collegiate season for Mason. She was named to the VaSID All-State Second Team for outfield, the second postseason award in the senior's career.
 
The Pittsburgh, Pa. native led the team and conference in several statistical batting categories including at-bats (166), hits (66), stolen bases (18), and runs (35). The center fielder also tallied five doubles, one triple, and 20 RBI's.
 
Dadig also notched a spot on both the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and All-Academic team for her efforts during the season and in the classroom. The three-time Provost scholar earned her spot with her 3.97 GPA in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering.

Annabelle Eastman, Jr., Melbourne, Australia, 3.85, Kinesiology, Cross Country/Distance

Eastman was named to the 2022 Academic All-District® Team. A native of Melbourne, Australia, earns her second consecutive academic all-district nod. The Kinesiology major boasts a GPA of 3.85.
 
Eastman was the 2021 Atlantic 10 champion in cross country, becoming Mason's first athlete since 2013 to win the individual title. She qualified for her second consecutive NCAA Cross Country Championships by placing seventh in the NCAA Southeast Region, one of the toughest in the country. She is only the sixth-ever Mason female athlete to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships and the first since 1996. She placed 92nd at the national meet for her second straight top-100 finish.

Eastman is a Mason Provost Scholar-Athlete, A-10 All-Academic selection and USTFCCCA Academic All-American.

Grace Moody, Sr., Lake George, N.Y., 3.91, Environmental Science, Rowing
 
The George Mason rowing Varsity 8+ boat, led by senior Grace Moody, posted its top time of the spring while earning a runner-up finish at the Pinchot Invitational. Mason completed its 2k race in 6:49.00 less than six seconds behind first-place Lafayette. The Green & Gold placed ahead of Loyola (Md.) and ahead of Penn State by close to 29 seconds.

Moody is a three-time Mason Provost Scholar-Athlete.
 
Kamron Smith, Gr., Colonial Beach, Va., 3.87, Sport Management, Baseball 
 
Smith played in 54 games with 53 starts in his first season with the Patriots. The Colonial Beach, Va. native batted .281 (57-for-203) with 13 doubles, one triple, five home runs, 35 RBI, 34 runs scored, 18 walks, seven hit by pitch, one sacrifice fly and three sacrifice hits.
