FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason softball team (21-26, 9-12 A-10) took the series sweep in a 3-2 win against Rhode Island (11-33, 4-17 A-10) on Sunday morning.
After a scoreless first two innings, the Patriots were able to strike in the bottom of the third inning to take the 2-0 lead.
Sophomore
Marlaina Bozek was hit by the third pitch in her at-bat, resulting in a trip to first base. Senior
Taylor Dadig stepped up to the plate to hit a double down the right field line on the first pitch of her at-bat. The next batter for the Patriots, senior
EJ Bankson, hit a double down the left field line to score both Bozek and Dadig.
Mason was able to add their third and final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Senior

Rhode Island got on the board in the top of the sixth inning to cut their deficit to one. The Rams reached base on error and an infield single before both runners were sent home on a single up the middle.
