Baltimore, Md. -- The George Mason women's tennis won all but two matches today in a 6-1 win against Loyola on the Baltimore campus.
The Patriots improve to 11-5 on the season. It's the first time since the 2016-17 season, the Patriots hit double-digit wins. Mason finished 15-9 that season.
Mason's top two doubles teams won their matches by identical 6-3 scores to win the doubles point. Grad transfer
Grace Hashiguchi and
Jackie Nannery improved to 8-6 overall, 7-4 in the top doubles position with the win. The No. 2 team of
Paige La and
Hannah Yang improve to 11-6 overall.
In singles play, three matches were won in straight sets. Hashiguchi earned the Patriots second point after defeating Loyola's Lauren Manwiller, 6-2, 6-4.
Hannah Yang finished off the Greyhound's Anna Rico, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles to increase Mason's lead to 3-0.
Loyola won the No. 5 singles match to get on the board.
Jackie Nannery clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
Ashley Fitz-Patrick and
Paige La won their matches in tiebreaker sets.
Mason travels to Philadephia to take on the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Saturday at 11 a.m.
