Fairfax, Va. -- The George Mason women's tennis team fell today in Atlantic 10 action against the Davidson Wildcats. Mason falls to 9-5, Davidson improves to 11-3.
The Patriots couldn't get over the hump today in several matches that went to a tiebreaker set as Davidson defeated Mason this afternoon at the George Mason Tennis Complex.
Mason's No. 2 doubles team of
Paige La and
Hannah Yang defeated Emma Heiderscheit and Franny Shea, 6-4, but Davidson earned the first point of the match with wins at the other two doubles matches.
In singles action, the Patriots had an opportunity to grab a couple points in tiebreaker matches, but the Wildcats prevailed. Davidson's Shea defeated the Patriots
Jackie Nannery, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, and after winning the first set, Mason's
Lauren Splett dropped the second and the tiebreaker set, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1. The Wildcats top singles player defeated Mason's
Paige La in a close match, 6-2, 7-6(6). The Patriots
Grace Hashiguchi was edged, 7-5, 7-5, by Davidson's Elizabeth Trulick.
The Patriots are back on its home court tomorrow against Longwood at 2 p.m.
