ORLANDO, Fla. – The George Mason University men's tennis team completed its season in the A-10 Championship Thursday morning, where the Patriots were edged by St. Bonaventure, 5-2.
Playing without doubles stalwart
Ryan Charles due to injury, Mason dropped two of three doubles matches to lose the doubles point, which ultimately proved to be the difference in the match.
The No. 2 doubles pairing of junior
Rithik Sardana and senior
Erick Rivas claimed victory Thursday, taking down the SBU duo of Schneideman/Riemann, 6-4. Rivas finished his senior season with a 3-2 mark in dual doubles action.
In singles, Sardana wrapped up his strong junior campaign with a straight sets win over Jean Marrero at No. 2. He won the first set, 6-3, then cruised in the second, 6-2. Sardana finishes his season with a 9-7 mark in dual singles action and an identical 9-7 record in dual doubles.
Elsewhere, junior
Faisal Alrebdi capped his Mason career with a victory at No. 4 singles. He blanked SBU's Sanchez, 6-0, in the first set, then won 6-2 in the second. He tallied an 8-5 mark in dual singles this season and picked up six dual doubles wins.
At No. 3, junior
Momin Khan won his first set, 6-2, but dropped the second, 2-6. He was trailing, 1-0, in the third when the match was called.
