FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University women's tennis team will travel to Orlando, Florida to compete at the 2022 Atlantic 10 Tennis Championships, April 27-30.

The Patriots enter the tournament as the No. 11 seed. The Patriots (13-7, 2-4 A10) will open the tournament against sixth-seeded Saint Louis (12-7) on Wednesday (April 27) at 2 pm. In the final session of the day. The winner of the match will face #3 seed Fordham Rams on Thursday at 5:30 pm.
Mason is 2-4 in the league, with victories over St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's. Saint Louis did not play in an A-10 match.
At the top,
Paige La returned for another outstanding season, her third straight at No. 1 singles. The junior finished 16-15 in singles action and 15-6 in doubles at No. 2 with grad student
Hannah Yang, including 12-4 in dual action. The duo has won five straight matches.
In her first season with the Patriots, grad student
Grace Hashiguchi played all but one dual match from the No. 2 slot. She enters the championship with a 10-5 record in dual action, 14-9 overall. Teamed up with
Jackie Nannery at the No. 1 doubles position, the duo finished 9-5 in dual matches.
Returning for a grad season, Yang played the majority of her matches at No. 3 singles, moving up a position from her senior season. She has more than 100 wins in her career at Mason.
The bottom half of the Mason line-up had a solid showing this season, winning 33 singles matches. Junior
Ashley Fitz-Patrick led the way with an 9-5 record in No. 4 through No. 6 singles matches, including 7-3 at No. 4.
Five players played in dual action matches at the No. 5 position. Senior
Jackie Nannery accounted for five wins in that slot, 7-7 overall.
Savanna Crowell played several singles spots for the Patriots, but she earned a 7-1 record at No. 6.
Brianna Gibbs played in four positions. Freshman
Lauren Splett was 4-4 from the No. 5 and No. 6 slots in dual play.
The semifinals will be played Friday at 5:30 pm, and the championship finale is Saturday at 5:30 pm and will be broadcast on ESPN+, the home for live Atlantic 10 action. Admission will be free for the A-10 Championships.
