ORLANDO, Fla. – The George Mason University men's tennis team heads to the beautiful USTA National Campus in Orlando to compete in the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship, beginning Thursday.
As the No. 8 seed, Mason will battle No. 9 St. Bonaventure at 9 a.m. Thursday. Fans can follow the match via live results or the on court cameras which highlight each match.
The winner of the contest will move on to battle top-seeded VCU on Friday at 9 a.m.
The Patriots defeated St. Bonaventure earlier this season, 5-2, on April 16 in Fairfax.
Mason has put together a solid spring, despite battling injuries and COVID-19 adversity over the past few months.
The Patriots will be without graduate leader
Ryan Charles, who will not compete in Florida due to injury. Charles was instrumental in Mason's No. 1 doubles team with junior
Rithik Sardana. The duo went 6-5 in dual doubles action this season, including a 2-1 mark in A-10 play. Charles also played No. 4 singles for much of the spring season.
Sardana will look to lead the squad in the Sunshine State. He's a team-best 8-7 in dual singles action this season, primarily at the No. 2 position. Brother
Rishab Sardana also will look to make an impact in Florida from the No. 1 spot, where he claimed four wins this dual season. He also partnered with junior
Faisal Alrebdi to pick up six dual doubles wins.
Alrebdi went 2-1 in A-10 singles play and 7-5 in dual singles overall at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions.
Junior
Herman Jentoft also went 2-1 in A-10 singles and won both of his matches at No. 6 on the season.
