FAIRFAX, Va. – Senior pitcher
Jared Lyons belted a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Patriots to an 11-9 walk-off win over Saint Louis in the conclusion of game two of the series on Sunday at Spuhler Field.
The game, which began on Saturday, was suspended at due to weather conditions tied 9-9 in the bottom of the ninth. The contest resumed on Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
Lyons took over on the mound in the 10th when the game resumed. The home run was the first of his career in 76 at-bats. Lyons hadn't had a plate appearance since the 2020 season, when he recorded 14 at-bats.
The Patriots have hit eight home runs in the last nine games.
Mason (12-21, 4-4 A-10) took the lead over Saint Louis (17-15, 4-4 A-10) in the bottom of the first against Billikens senior starter Logan Schmitt.

Connor Dykstra followed with back-to-back RBI-singles to put the Patriots in front, 2-0.
Saint Louis got on the board in the top of the third against Mason graduate student starter
Ben Shields.
Billikens senior outfielder Matt Turino led off with a double and junior designated hitter Cam Redding walked. After both played moved up a base on a wild pitch, senior first baseman Kyle Fitzgerald drove in Turino from third with a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-1 game.
The Patriots responded in the home half of the third when Ahalt led off with a single and stole second, and Trimble drew a walk. Trimble quickly moved to second when Ahlat was caught stealing. Dykstra then plated a run with his second base knock of the game to increase the lead to 3-1.

Kamron Smith then walked for the second straight at-bat to put runners on the corners before senior designated hitter
Scott Morgan drove in a run with a sacrifice bunt to extend the advantage to 4-1.
The Billikens scored two runs in the top of the fourth against Mason sophomore reliever
Ryan Peterson. With runners on first and third, Turino drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Fitzgerald plated a run with a single to make it a one run game at 4-3.
Saint Louis took its only lead of the game in the top of the sixth against Mason sophomore reliever
Christian Mracna. Junior catcher Cody Jansen led off with a walk and scored on a triple to left by Turino to tie the game. With one out, Fitzgerald drove in a run with a single to put the Billikens in front, 5-4.
The Patriots sent nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on three hits against Saint Louis relievers Ryan Surin and Cameron Pferrer to retake the lead, 9-5.
Ahalt drove in two runs with a single, Dykatra plated a pair of runs with a double and Morgan knocked in a run with a single in the inning.
In the top of the eighth, the Billikens scored four runs, including two on wild pitches, against Mason senior
Matthew Henson to tie the game, 9-9.
The game was suspended in the bottom of the ninth, with a runner on first and one out for the Patriots.
After Mason failed to score in the ninth, the game moved to extra innings with Lyons taking over on the mound and retiring the Billikens in order in the 10th inning.
Trimble walked to lead of the home half of the 10th inning against Saint Louis freshman reliver Jack Weber.
After a strikeout and a fly out, Lyons stepped to the plate and smashed a two-run home run over the left field fence to propel the Patriots to the 11-9 victory and the series win over the Billikens.
For the Patriots, Shields allowed one run on three hits in 3.0 innings. Peterson gave up two runs on three hits in 2.0 innings. Mracna surrendered two runs on two hits and retired one batter in the sixth. Henson gave up four runs, three earned, on two hits in 1.2 innings.

Danny Hosley pitched 2.0 scoreless innings, while Lyons (4-3) tossed one scoreless frame to earn the win.
Dykstra went 4-for-6 with four RBI and two runs scored, Ahalt was 3-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored and Trimble finished 2-for-3 with two walks and scored three times. Morgan and Lyons each drove in a pair of runs in the game.
