FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team honored its six seniors with a 5-2 triumph over St. Bonaventure on Saturday morning at the Mason Tennis Courts.
George Mason (7-7, 1-2) won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles contests to upend the Bonnies.
In doubles, Mason's No. 1 pair of
Ryan Charles and
Rithik Sardana made quick work of the Bonnies' Paardekooper/Rivolo duo during a 6-1 victory.
At No. 2,
Rishab Sardana and
Faisal Alrebdi battled back after being down a break on two occasions to win a resilient 7-6 affair over William Schneideman and Luke Riemann. The Patriot pair dominated the tiebreak, 7-1.
In singles,
Rishab Sardana took care of business in two sets at No. 1 while claiming a 7-5, 6-3 win.
At No. 2,
Rithik Sardana lost only three games in an outstanding victory over Jean Marrero (6-1, 6-2). Sardana is now 8-5 in dual singles this season.
Junior
Momin Khan also cruised at No. 3 while winning 6-2, 6-0 over Rivolo.
The Patriots' fifth point came courtesy of junior
Herman Jentoft, who claimed victory at No. 6 over Luke Young, 6-1, 6-1.
The win improved Mason to 4-1 in home matches this season.
