Women's Lacrosse Hosts La Salle on Saturday

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse will host La Salle for an Atlantic 10 Conference match on Saturday afternoon. The Match can be viewed on ESPN+.

The Series with La Salle 
Mason and La Salle have met only in Atlantic 10 action, with Mason owning the all-time series, 5-1, including five straight. The Patriots dropped the inaugural match 13-4 on April 27, 2014 in Fairfax. In the previous meeting on March 24, 2019, the Patriots experienced its largest margin of victory in the series with a 20-6 win at George Mason Stadium.

Last Time Out
The George Mason women's lacrosse team got off to a great start in Thursday's match at Duquesne, but the Dukes defense held the Patriots in check for the final three periods in a 18-13 win against the Patriots this afternoon at Rooney Field. Grad student Ioanna Mantzouratos led the Patriots in several categories, with two goals, three caused turnovers and seven draw controls. The Patriots Morgan Gunn had a team-high five points (2/3) and six Mason's players each scored two goals for the Patriots. Freshman Lauren Distad notched a season-high five draw controls.

  • Olivia O'Brien leads the Atlantic 10 in draw controls (87) and draw control average (6.21) and ranks 24th nationally. The grad student earned 18 draw controls at Howard, breaking the Patriots record of 13 set by Hannah Warpinski at Duquesne, April 7, 2017. The mark is among the top 25 in NCAA history. 
  • Grad student Ioanna Mantzouratos is third on Mason with 34 points (22/12), leads the Patriots with 16 caused turnovers, and is second on the team with 48 draw controls.
  • Shannon Tuozzo leads Mason with 40 points (28/12) and ground balls with 20. She scored a season-high five goals against GW.
Scouting La Salle 
La Salle has two conference wins, defeating VCU and St. Bonaventure by identical, 12-11 scores.  Emily Johnston leads the Explorers and is ranked in the top 10 of the A-10 in goals per game (2.40), ground balls (2.13), draw controls (4.07), and caused turnovers (1.40).
