FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason softball team will travel to Towson for a midweek game.
 
A LOOK AT THE PATRIOTS

Mason comes off their weekend series with Massachusetts with a 1-2 record.
 
In game one, sophomore Marlaina Bozek went 1-for-2 at the plate and was walked once in an offensive jam. Bozek tallied one of the Patriots four hits of the game in the 5-1 loss.

In game two, the Patriots found themselves in another offensive jam. Bozek went 3-for-3 at the plate while junior Haley Taormina went 2-for-3 in the 4-2 loss.
 
In the final game of the series, the Patriots were able to work out the funk they were in the day before earning the 2-1 win. Senior Taylor Dadig and redshirt sophomore Nicole Bechtel both went 2-for-3 at the plate. Dadig scored one of Mason's two runs of the game.

Sophomore Carly Cooper earned the start and the loss in the first game for the Patriots, pitching her fifth complete game of the season. Graduate student Cheyenne Van Pelt earned the start in the final two games of the series, adding a win and a loss to her record. Van Pelt pitched two complete games this weekend, her third of the season.
 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Towson, 2022 record: 12-22, 2-7 Colonial Athletic Association

Towson ended their 2021 season with an overall record of 14-17, 1-11 in the conference. The Tigers fell in a three-game series sweep to the Dragons of Drexel to close out the season.

Towson is led by junior Briana Ramirez. Ramirez currently leads the team in batting average, recording a 0.377 mark so far this season. The outfielder has tallied 40 hits, four doubles, two triples, and nine RBI's in 106 at-bats.
 
From the bullpen, the Tigers are led by senior Julia Jackson, who has appeared in 22 games thus far in the 2022 season, tallying a record of 9-9. Jackson has tallied an ERA of 4.29 after 114.1 innings pitched, giving up 133 hits, 79 runs, 39 walks, 23 doubles, seven triples, and 11 home runs.
 
Towson holds the advantage over Mason, leading the all-time series 11-24, with the last meeting between the two teams occurring in the 2021 season where the Patriots earned an 8-1 win in Marlyand.
