Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The George Mason baseball team dropped its midweek, non-conference game to Wake Forest, 14-2, on Wednesday night at David F. Couch Ballpark in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The Patriots (5-7) took the lead in the top of the second against Demon Deacons (12-1) sophomore starter Reed Mascolo.

Connor Dykstra led off with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman center fielder
Brett Ahalt to put the Patriots in front, 1-0.
The Demon Deacons went in front in the home half of the third against Mason freshman starter
Britt Yount.
Wake Forest plated a run on a single and another on a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-1 game.
The Demon Deacons scored two more in the fourth on a pair of RBI singles to increase the lead to 4-1.
Mason senior designated hitter
Scott Morgan smashed his first home run of the season in the top of the fifth to account for the Patriots second run of the night.
Wake Forest then scored 10 unanswered runs.
In the bottom of the fifth, Wake Forest junior catcher Brandan Tinsman hit a three-run home run to increase the advantage to 7-2.
The Demon Deacons sent eight batters to the plate in the sixth and took advantage of four walks, a balk and an error to score four runs to make it 11-2.
In the home half of the seventh, Wake Forest added three more runs, with sophomore James Broderick providing the big hit with a two-run double, to pad the lead to 14-2.
The Patriots used seven pitchers in the game. Yount allowed two unearned runs on three hits in 3.0 innings and took the loss in his first collegiate start.
The Demon Deacons used five pitchers on the night. Mascolo allowed two runs on four hits in 4.2 innings to earn the win.
Ahalt went 2-for-2 with a walk and drove in a run. Freshman right fielder

South Trimble, Dykstra and Morgan each had one hit in the game.
The Patriots are back home to begin a three-game series against Quinnipiac on Friday, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Spuhler Field.
