Fairfax, Va. -- The George Mason women's tennis team improved to 4-3 with a 7-0 win against Coppin State today at the George Mason Tennis Complex.
The Patriots won the doubles point with wins at the top two positions. At No. 1 doubles, the team of
Grace Hashiguchi and
Jackie Nannery won 6-1 against the Eagles Iva Jankovic and Megan Etienne. Savannah Crowell and
Francesca Trella won 6-3 against the CSU team of Lucia Placidi and Christy Turner.
Mason cruised through the singles matches in straight sets highlighted by big wins in three of the matches. In the No. 4 singles position, Nannery won 6-0, 6-1 versus Placidi.
Ashley Fitz-Patrick, playing at the No. 2 position for the first time this season, dominated Megan Etienne with a 6-2, 6-1 win and
Lauren Splett won her match at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
Mason travels into Washington, D.C. on Sunday to take on Howard University at 11 a.m.
