FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team won its second-straight home match with a 7-0 triumph over Mt. St. Mary's Wednesday afternoon at the Mason Tennis Courts.
The Patriots proved dominant, dropping just one set in singles and doubles en route to the team's fifth win in the last six matches.
"We played really well today," head coach Jimmy Davis said. "The guys came out motivated to improve with conferences coming up, and really fought hard together as a team. We saw some areas that still need improvement and we're excited to get to work on them tomorrow."
Mason improved its dual doubles record to an impressive 18-8 (.692) mark with a sweep of all three doubles matches. That included 6-3 wins across the board, with

Faisal Alrebdi at No. 1,
Rithik Sardana/
Ryan Charles at No. 2 and
Momin Khan/
Hayden Postin at No. 3.
Alrebdi and
Rishab Sardana improved to 5-2 as a unit, while Charles and
Rithik Sardana moved to 4-2.
In singles,
Rishab Sardana made quick work of Elliot Stevens at No. 1 while winning 6-2, 6-3. Brother Rithik dropped his first set (6-3) against Fillipos Zachiotis, but bounced back in strong fashion, winning the final two sets 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 3, Khan improved to 5-3 in dual singles this spring with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Giovanni Abriola. He displayed great tenacity in the first set. Khan built a 3-0 lead, then fell behind 4-3. But he regrouped to tough out the 7-5 set win.
Alrebdi won at No. 4, 6-4, 6-1, while fellow junior
Herman Jentoft took out Marcel Cronin at No. 5, 6-1, 6-1.
At No. 6, Postin won 6-1, 6-2 over Nick Huynh of the Mount.
Mason now heads down I95 to open A-10 play at Richmond. The Patriots will play the Spiders on Sunday at 12 p.m.
