FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason softball team will travel to old CAA rival James Madison for a midweek doubleheader Mar. 30 inside Veterans Memorial Park. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
A LOOK AT THE PATRIOTS
Mason is coming off the weekend series against Siena with a 1-2 record. The Patriots fell to the Saints in both games of the doubleheader, 6-7 (10) and 1-4, before coming back to win the single game on Saturday 8-5.
On Friday, senior
Taylor Dadig and junior
Rachel Warrens led the offensive momentum in the first game for the Patriots, both going 2-for-5 at the plate with one RBI. Warrens led the momentum again in the second game, going 1-for-3 at the plate and scored the lone run for the Patriots.
On Saturday, four Patriots had strong offensive games. Seniors
Amber Verstynen and
EJ Bankson and sophomore
Marlaina Bozek all went 2-for-3 at the plate. All two of Bankson's hits were RBI's while only one of Bozek's two hits was an RBI. Warrens, hot with the bat again, went 2-for-4 with three RBI's.

James Madison end their historic 2021 season with an overall record of 41-4, 17-1 in the conference. The Dukes, able to garner the CAA championship tournament, survive and advanced in both the Knoxville Regional and Columbia Super Regional, made their first ever Women's College World Series appearance.
James Madison shocked the world after defeating No. 1 Oklahoma 4-3 (8 innings) in the first game of the tournament and the going on to defeat No. 5 Oklahoma State 2-1 in the second game. The Dukes historical run came to an end after falling to No. 1 Oklahoma twice, 3-6 and 1-7.
James Madison is led by redshirt junior Hannah Shifflett. Shifflett currently leads the team in batting average, recording a 0.410 mark so far this season. The infielder has tallied 32 hits, eight double, eight home runs, and 24 RBI's in 78 at-bats.
From the bullpen, the Dukes are led by sophomore Alissa Humphrey, who has appeared in 18 games thus far in the 2022 season, recording a record of 7-7. Humphrey has tallied an ERA of 4.20 after 81.2 innings pitched, giving up 83 hits, 56 runs, 37 walks, 16 doubles, one triple, and 10 home runs.
James Madison holds the advantage over Mason, leading the all-time series 3-22, with the last meeting between the two teams occurring in the 2013 season when the Patriots fell to the Dukes 8-0 in Harrisonburg.
