RICHMOND, Va. – The George Mason women's tennis team fell to the Richmond Spiders, 4-1, in an afternoon match at the Westhampton Tennis Courts.
The Patriots had a six-match win streak heading into today's match with Atlantic 10 opponent Richmond.
The Spiders won the doubles points point to open the match. In the third and deciding match at No. 2 doubles, Richmond edged the Patriots team of Paige La and Hannah Yang, 7-5. The Patriots No. 3 team of Savanna Crowell and Emily Wirt prevailed with a 6-4 win.
Mason's Crowell got Mason on the board with a 6-4 win at No. 6 singles against the Spiders Emily Garvin.
The Spiders took the next three matches to earn the 4-1 win. Emily Dunbar clinched the match with a 7-6, 6-1 win against Mason's top player Paige La.
The Patriots are right back at it Saturday afternoon with a match against Bucknell at the George Mason Tennis Complex.
