Carly Cooper and
Hayley Shifflett have earned Atlantic 10's Player of the Week recognitions, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Carly Cooper was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week. This is Cooper's first career POTW selection.
A native of Seneca Rocks, WVa., Cooper pitched two complete games with one ending in a shutout. The sophomore tallied 13 strikeouts in her time on the mound as well as only giving up eight hits in 48 at-bats. Cooper improved to 7-1 on the season after earning two wins against the Bonnies, leading the conference in wins. Cooper also leads the conference in ERA, improving to 2.66 over the weekend and currently holds a conference ERA of 0.50.
Hayley Shifflett was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. This is Shifflett's first career POTW selection.
A native of Scottsville, Va., Shifflett tallied three hits and four RBI's over the last week. Three of the outfielder's RBI's came from the second win over Coppin State. Shifflett scored two runs over the last week of play.
Cooper, Shifflett, and the Patriots will be back in action this week, hosting Morgan State on Wednesday Mar. 16 with first pitch slated for 2 p.m.
