BOSTON, Mass. – The George Mason track and field program began its weekend in Boston at the Crimson Elite Invitational, hosted by Harvard, on Friday at the Gordon Indoor Track.
A bevy of personal records highlighted Friday's meet, including a first-place, PR of 11.74 meters from Dhiambi Otete in the women's triple jump.
Senior Jaylen Simmons finished second in the shot put with a season-best toss of 18.02m.
In the weight throw, Simmons placed third with a toss of 18.52m. Bobby Kestyn notched a PR of 16.22m for eighth in the event while Garsen Gross PR'ed with a mark of 15.89m.
In the pole vault, senior Decker Barborek led the men with a personal-record height of 4.75 meters. He finished fifth in the event.
Autumn White matched her personal-record height of 4.85m for fifth in the women's pole vault. Hannah Robertson tabbed eighth with a mark of 3.70m.
In the 400m dash, Michka-Mae Hyde posted a PR of 57.68 to place sixth overall. Freshmen Khia Holloway (59.22) and Adia Palmer (59.23) each posted personal-record times to finish eighth and ninth, respectively.
Sophomore Ed Deskins won his heat with a time of 51.09 to finish 10th overall in the men's 400m.
Elsewhere on the track, freshman Noelle Toss placed 16th in the 60m dash with a time of 7.89 while Cason Gardner finished 10th in the 60m hurdles.
Sophomore North Suthumpun took ninth in the long jump (6.75m) while Ellis Nei placed ninth in the high jump (1.90m).
Up next, Mason will send student-athletes to the Scarlet & White Invite on Saturday at Boston's Track & Tennis Center.
