The George Mason men's tennis team opens its 2022 spring season at Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon and at James Madison on Sunday afternoon. This marks the beginning of the road to the Atlantic 10 Championships at the USTA National Campus from April 28th to May 1st.
Mason has taken a competitive hiatus since October, when the Patriots competed at the ITA Regional. The dynamic duo of graduate student
Ryan Charles and junior
Rithik Sardana continued their success as a doubles tandem while reaching the quarterfinals. The duo won three fall doubles matches in 2021 after tallying a 6-3 dual mark at the top position last spring.
Freshman
Dustin Ha, sophomore
Hayden Postin and senior
Chanasorn Nakaurai also made good efforts in their singles matches at the ITA Regional this fall. They will look to make strides in the dual season.
At the River City Open, Postin led Mason, winning all three of his singles matches against players from Bucknell, Longwood and the College of Charleston.
Mason will look to play a full season after COVID-19 protocols postponed or cancelled seven matches in the 2021 spring season. Despite those road blocks, Mason matched its highest ever seed at the A-10 Championship.
The Patriots return both All-A-10 selections from that squad, including Sardana and his brother, Rishab.
