FAIRFAX, Va. – The leaders of George Mason's cross country teams, junior
Annabelle Eastman and senior
Jack Ikenberry were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Friday.
Eastman
has been nominated to the team for the third straight year, while Ikenberry is being honored for the second time the other back in 2019. Both were named A-10 Performers of the Week this year.
Eastman is a native of Melbourne, Australia with a GPA of 3.86 in Kinesiology. She finished 19th at the NCAA Southeast Regional earning All-Region honors (20:39.3). She placed 3rd in the A-10 Championship which included All-Conference honors (16:55.4). She finished 2nd (20:55.4) at the IC4A Championships helping the team finish 6th. Eastman beat her personal best 6k time by almost 20 seconds at the Paul Short Invitational, finishing in 2nd (20:10.7).
Ikenberry is from Mechanicsville, Va. and has a GPA of 3.37 in Sport Management. He finished 4th in the A-10 Championship which included All-Conference honors. He ran his personal best 8k time (23:35.4) at the Paul Short Invitational finishing 44th overall. He placed 3rd at the Navy Invitational (23:54.6) to help the team achieve 2nd overall.
The Academic All-Conference teams comprise six student-athletes who were selected based on their performance on the trails, as well as in the classroom. To be nominated, runners must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's Sports Information Directors.
