Fairfax, Va.— The George Mason wrestling team will host Bloomsburg University and Gardner-Webb at the Recreation Athletic Complex (RAC) Friday, Dec. 2, beginning at 4 p.m.
 
The Patriots will open the event against Bloomsburg University at 4:00 p.m., followed by a dual between Bloomsburg and Gardner-Webb. Mason will wrap up the duals with a match against Gardner-Webb.
 
The George Mason matches will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.

MAT FACTS

• Mason is 3-0 in duals to open the 2022-23 season.
• The Patriots opened the 2022-23 season with six place-winners at the Princeton Open. Malachi Duvall (184 pounds) earned a third-place finish, the highest finish by a Patriot. Tyler Kocak finished fourth. Sophomores Michael Rapuano and Logan Messer earned a fifth place finishes. Freshman Markel Baker and sophomore Jonathan List each finished sixth.
• Senior Kyle Davis is ranked second in the 184-pound weight class in the latest MAC rankings. The Beacon, N.Y. native finished last season with a 13-8 overall record, 6-2 in regular season MAC duals.
• At 174 pounds, Mason's Logan Messer is ranked third in MAC rankings. As a freshman, he finished fourth in the 2022 MAC tournament. He had an impressive rookie campaign, finishing with a 27-9 record.

BLOOMSBURG HUSKIES

• Mason holds a 7-6 edge in the all-time series. The Patriots have won three straight against the Huskies and six of the last seven matches.
• Senior Cole Rhone Cole Rhone finished second in the 133-pound bracket as the Bloomsburg wrestling team finished eighth of 10 teams with 20 points at the Black Knight Invitational, Nov 27.

GARDNER-WEBB RUNNIN' BULLDOGS

• Gardner-Webb holds a 3-2 edge in the all-time series. The Bulldogs won the last match, 22-14, on Dec. 19, 2021.
• The Runnin' Bulldogs came away with two fourth-place finishes, one fifth and two sixth-place finishes against a field that included Stanford, Virginia, Ohio, Kent State, Appalachian State, Edinboro and Air Force at the Appalachian Invitational.
• RJ Mosle (165) posted an impressive result in a narrow, 3-2 loss to Stanford's Shane Griffith – the 2021 national champion and 2022 All-America and runner up. Sam Mora also finished fourth at 197 pounds. Drew West (125) finished fifth and Jha'Quan Anderson (184) and Todd Carter (133) each took sixth place at the App Invitational.
