LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Patriots competed in the NCAA Regionals this morning in Louisville, Ky, hosted by the University of Lexington at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
 
The women's team placed 15th overall in their 6k the men finished the 10k in 16th.
 
The women were led by junior Annabelle Eastman who placed 19th overall and earned All-Region honors (20.39.3). Coach Mihalich said, "Her recognition on the first team All-Region is a huge accomplishment, and one very well earned highlight heading back to Fairfax!"
 
Juniors Kate O'Neill and Sarah Francis crossed the finish line next in 79th (21:56.3) and 82nd (22:00.8) respectively. Rounding out the scoring was senior Noelle Saine in 127th (22:53.2) and junior Alexis Anderson in 141st (23:10.1).
 
Coming out of this meet, there is a lot to consider, but at the moment, all I can say is how proud I am of this team," said Coach Mihalich. "This year, the Atlantic 10 and Southeast Region were much better than in the past. So, our results as a team have shown that we, too, have gotten better. It's yet another testament to where we are as a program. They handled one of the hardest regions in the NCAA very well. Several of our athletes are track runners who have learned to love cross country, and it has been an incredibly fun element this year to have a group that got locked in and belonged at each race. This group competed hard. Very hard, every time. That's not easy to do, especially at this level. Plus, it was the whole roster that became a force at each race.  I have a tremendous amount of gratitude to the seniors and I'm glad we have the track season ahead of us."
 
Senior Jack Ikenberry led the men in 47th (30:52.9) with sophomore Wesley Bond following in 50th (30:56.7). Next was freshman Mason Love in 109th (32:17.1) and junior Kai Muniz in 123rd (32:37.4). To round out the scoring was junior James Seal in 130th (32:48.1).
 
"The men were solid today with some sloppy challenging conditions," said Coach Gerard. "It was the first regional competition for several guys in the lineup and served as a very good learning experience for us to build upon for the future."
