GENEVA, Ohio – The George Mason men's swimming and diving team placed second, while the women' team finished third at the A-10 Classic at the SPIRE Institute, site of the A-10 Championships, in Geneva, Ohio.

On the men's side, Oakland University placed first (1352 points) followed by Mason (1190.5), St. Bonaventure (945.5) and Cleveland State (924). 

On the women's side, Oakland University took the top spot (1471.5) followed by Duquesne (1296.5), Mason (1010.5), St. Bonaventure (650.5) and Cleveland State (316).

On the men's side, freshman Tate Anderson took second in the 200-yard IM (1:53.32), while senior Thomas Chapman placed fourth (1:24.21) and senior Sammy Lucht was ninth (1:57.03).  Anderson also made the podium with a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (50.10), while sophomore Alexander Franklin was seventh in the event (51.31).

Anderson placed second in the 200-yard IM (1:53.32), while Chapman just missed the podium with a fourth-place finish (1:24.21) and Lucth was ninth (1:57.03).  Anderson recorded a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (45.91), while sophomore Zane Roberts finished fifth (46.39) and freshman Joshua Hochard sixth (46.54).

Freshman Tyler Lentine notched a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:04.17), with Chapman fourth 2:09.59), sophomore Nathaniel Powell sixth (2:11.05) and sophomore Nicholas Maranto ninth (2:14.15).

In the 400-yard IM, Chapman made the podium with a third-place finish (4:09.34) and Maranto was 10th (4:18.41).  In the 50-yard freestyle, Roberts touched the wall second (20.86) and Franklin finished seventh (21.20).

The Patriots took five of the top ten spots in the 100-yard butterfly.  Alexander took third (50.20), Lucht was fifth (50.81), junior Jackson Brookover finished seventh (51.25), freshman Aoun Al-Hiari placed eighth (51.28) and freshman Jett Lee 10th (51.81).  Al-Hiari was fourth in the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.37) and Lucht was 10th (1:59.50).

In the 200-yard backstroke, Lee was seventh (1:55.26) and Brookover 10th (1:57.35).

Sophomore Zachary Kopel placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle (4:45.05) and was eighth in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:47.32).

In the 200-yard freestyle, junior Anthony Nguyen placed seventh (1:44.26), Kopel eighth (1:44.82) and freshman Max Fermayer ninth (1:45.02).  Fermayer was also ninth in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:50.07).

The Patriots placed second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:32.49), 400-yard medley relay (3:23.49) and 400-freestyle relay (3:03.21), and notched a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:25.20).

Junior Indigo Flynch took second in the one-meter diving event (247.00), while junior Ian Castegnaro placed fifth (232.00).  In the three-meter, Flych placed fifth (226.90) and Castegnaro was eighth (199.05).

On the women's side, graduate student Jacquee Clabeaux won the 100-yard freestyle (51.54), with classmate Madison Nalls fourth (52.40), sophomore Emma DeJong seventh (53.07) and sophomore Shannon Judge ninth (53.23).

The Patriots went two-three in the 200-yard freestyle with Clabeaux second (1:53.69) and Nalls third (1:54.83).  Clabeaux placed fourth in the 200-yard IM (2:05.83), with sophomore Ali Tyler fifth (2:06.58) and sophomore Anka Whelan sixth (2:07.67).

Whelan touched the wall second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.28) and she also made the podium with a third-place finish in the 400-yard IM (4:29.55).  In the 100-yard backstroke, Whelan was fourth (57.30) and Judge finished 10th (59.28).

Junior Abigail Murtaugh took second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.26) with freshman Gracie Sweeney fourth (2:08.14) and senior Leah Riley eighth (2:11.83).

Tyler touched the wall second in the 100-yard butterfly (56.82), while Murtaugh was seventh (57.92) and freshman Peyton Brehmer placed ninth (58.05) in the event.

Tyler also took second place in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:51.86) with sophomore Kylie Thompson ninth (18:47.26).

In the 100-yard breaststroke, DeJong swam to a third-place finish (1:06.22) with Tyler sixth in the event (1:06.90).

In the 50-yard freestyle, Brehmer finished fourth (24.08) and sophomore Shannon Judge was eighth (24.47).

The Patriots took the top spot in all four relay events, the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:34.85), 400-yard freestyle relay (3:26.98), 200-yard medley relay (1:44.29) and 400-yard medley relay (3:47.42).

Sophomore Emma McDonald placed sixth in the one-meter diving event (213.2), while freshman Maddie Hersh placed 13th (153.40).  In the three-meter, McDonald placed ninth (205.85) and Hersh 14th (175.55).

The Patriots are back in action Nov. 17-19, hosting the Patriot Invitational at the Aquatic and Fitness Center in Fairfax, Va.
