CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The George Mason University rowing program competed in one of the world's most famous regattas on Saturday during an unforgettable experience at the Head of the Charles in greater Boston.
The Patriots sent a Varsity 4+ boat to race in an event that featured some of the globe's top talent.
"We were thrilled to be a part of the Head of the Charles again after not racing in it since 2017," head coach
Joseph Richards said. "The team was very pleased with the piece they were able to put together. We're already looking forward to coming back next year."
Mason's boat, coxswained by
Cecilia Orlandella, finished a solid 33
rd out of 52 crews on Saturday. The Patriots crossed the finish line in 19:47.11, with splits of 4:34.72/10:21.79/16:16.99.
In addition to Orlandella, the Mason crew included senior
Katiya Pedrouzo, sophomore Maddie Baldwin, sophomore
Kaitlyn Kutz and senior
Melanie Brown.
The Patriots wrap up their 2022 fall season on November 5 at the annual Head of the Occoquan in Sandy Run Regional Park.
