Mat-Town Open II
The Mat-Town field will feature over 150 wrestlers from 10 different programs. Maryland, Bucknell, Buffalo, George Mason, Rutgers, Penn State, Navy, West Virginia and Bloomsburg will join Edinboro in the field. Entrants for the Patriots inlcude Patrick Schellpfeffer (133), Nate Higley (149), Paul Pierce (174) and Malachi DuVall (184). For now, LHU will allow each competing student-athlete to have up to two guests attend. All spectators must be listed on the official LHU team list and must remain properly masked while indoors.

Honoring Former Mason Coaches:
The Patriots will honor Mike Moyer and Brian Shaffer, two former Mason coaches at the match. Moyer coached for 10 seasons and is a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Class of 2022. Moyer advanced 27 wrestlers to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Three of those wrestlers went on to earn All-America honors, with one of them, John Curtis, earning the honor twice. The Patriots won two Colonial Athletic Association Championships under the leadership of Moyer, who ended his career with an overall record of 126-29-2. Shaffer, a two-time Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year, led George Mason to three conference titles in 10 seasons and coached more than 25 NCAA qualifiers. Shaffer coached at Battlefield High School where his teams won four straight district titles, a regional title and finished 5th in the state in 2015.

Mason alumni are encouraged to attend a post-match gathering at Ornery Brewery in Old Town Fairfax.
