Blacksburg, Va. -- The George Mason Patriots (6-4) battled one of the top wrestling teams in the country as No. 8 Virginia Tech (5-3) defeated the Patriots in the Moss Arts Center in Blacksburg this afternoon.

Freshman Logan Messer continues his impressive freshman campaign with a fall tonight against the Hokies Austin Dempsey (2:11). He improves to 20-4 on the season. The Patriots Avery Bassett defeated Jake Hart in sudden victory, 3-1 and Kyle Davis (184) won by default to account for the Patriots scoring in the match.

The Patriots will travel to Lock Haven and Bloomsburg for MAC Conference duals next Friday and Sunday.
