FAIRFAX, Va. – Former George Mason University men's basketball all-conference standout
Folarin Campbell ('08) has been named assistant director of the Patriot Club, vice president/director of athletics
Brad Edwards announced Monday.
A vital member of the Patriots' 2006 Final Four Team, Campbell led Mason to two NCAA berths and scored 1,545 career points during his storied Mason career in the Green & Gold.
"We are thrilled to bring Folarin onboard as a member of our Patriot Club staff," Edwards said. In addition to his boundless energy and work ethic, he possesses an innate ability to connect and engage with people. We believe Folarin will be an outstanding resource for Patriot Club members and current Mason student-athletes."
Campbell starred for the Patriots during the most accomplished era in program history. A two-time All-CAA selection, he ranks fifth all-time at Mason in assists (392), ninth in 3-pointers made (163) and 11
th in scoring (1535 pts). He earned NABC All-District First Team honors as a senior in 2008 and was a CAA All-Rookie team pick in 2005.
"I'm excited to come back to my alma mater," Campbell said. "My time here on the court was very impactful to my life and my basketball career. Accepting this position is like coming full circle - a continuation of the magic I felt here as a student-athlete."
During Mason's sensational run to the Final Four, Campbell put together some truly spectacular performances. He tallied a team-high 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists and went a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor in the first round upset of Michigan State. He scored 15 or more points in the next three wins over North Carolina, Wichita State and UConn, including a 15-point, 3-assist output in the victory over the Huskies.

After graduating from Mason, Campbell played 12 seasons of professional basketball during a productive and accomplished career overseas. That included stops in Italy, Germany and Latvia, among others. As part of Fastwebb Casale Monferrato, Campbell captured a league title with his Italian club in 2011.
In his role as assistant director of the Patriot Club, Campbell will plan and execute events for the organization as well as student-athlete alumni. He'll coordinate operations for Patriot Club campaigns, develop external communication elements and provide support for members, season ticketholders and fans.
