Mason Battles Morgan State in Midweek Doubleheader

BALTIMORE, Md. – The George Mason softball team will travel to Morgan State to play the Bears for a Wednesday doubleheader.

The first pitch of the first game in the doubleheader is slated for 3 p.m. ET. The contests will be streamed via Twitch.

LAST TIME OUT
The Patriots fell in four games against George Washington last weekend. The series concluded Mason's conference slate for 2021.

Senior Haellie Gordon tallied her first career home run in the series, while freshman Sydney Bales went 4-for-11 with two multi-hit games, including four RBI and a run scored on the weekend.

The center fielder also tallied back-to-back RBI doubles in the final game of the four-game series.

Mason will look to snap a 10-game losing skid on Wednesday, finishing their 2021 conference schedule with a record of 9-15.

SCOUTING MORGAN STATE (20-14, 14-5 MEAC)
The Bears finished their conference slate last weekend, winning a series against Coppin State, to improve their MEAC record to 14-5.

Morgan State's record was good enough to earn them the league's northern division title, their program's second division title.

As a team, the Bears are hitting .274/.382/.354 with 10 home runs, 127 RBI and 62 extra-base hits. In the circle, Morgan State has a team ERA of 2.90.

HISTORY vs. THE BEARS
Mason and Morgan State met earlier in the season in another midweek doubleheader on March 17.

The Patriots defeated the Bears in both games, winning by a score of 6-0 in the first game, and run-ruling Morgan State in the nightcap (8-0).

Mason has defeated Morgan State in every head-to-head matchup since 2007 (8-0 record). In those eight contests, the Patriots have outscored the Bears 61-15.
