FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team concluded its 2021 season, falling to Richmond, 11-1, on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Spuhler Field.

The Patriots (14-29, 7-17 A-10) fell behind Richmond (19-17, 5-11 A-10) in the second inning. Freshman designated hitter Alden Mathes led off with a double and scored on a single by graduate student right fielder Dan Leckie to put the Spiders in front 1-0.
Mason responded in the home half of the fourth against Richmond freshman starter Josh Willitts. With one out, DeLongchamps was hit by a pitch and he moved to second on a ground out. Mrowka then singled to center to drive in DeLongchamps, who raced around and beat the throw home to tie the game, 1-1.
The Spiders sent 11 batters to the plate in the top of the fifth, and scored six runs on six hits to take a 7-1 lead. Richmond added four runs on four hits in the top of the seventh for the 11-1 final score.
For the Patriots, Bradley allowed one run on two hits in 2.0 innings in a no-decision. Junior
Nick Zegna tossed two scoreless innings. Kaiser (2-3) gave up five runs on three hits and took the loss. Junior
Matthew Henson surrendered five runs, three earned, on seven hits in 1.2 innings. Junior
Hugh O'Hara pitched one scoreless inning.
For the Spiders, Willitts (1-1) allowed one run on three hits in 5.0 innings to earn the win. Graduate student relievers Eli Kimbell and Matthew Plisko each pitched one scoreless inning.
