The Spiders tied the game in the top of the third. Richmond graduate student second baseman Rich Ciufo doubled with one-out, and crossed the plate on a throwing error to even the score, 1-1.
The Patriots responded in the home half of the inning.
Sophomore center fielder
South Trimble led off with a walk before Reckling stepped to the plate and smashed his third home run of the season, a no-doubter over the left-center field fence to make it 3-1 Mason.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Patriots extended the lead to 4-1 when Stallings hit his second home run of the season, a lead-off solo shot over the left field fence. Stallings has homered in two straight games.
After two scoreless innings, Richmond manufactured a run in the top of the seventh. With one out, graduate student center fielder Wyatt Ulrich dropped down a bunt single and junior third baseman Dominic Toso singled up the middle to put runners on the corners. Jackson Barrett. With one out, Stallings reached on an error, with Barrett moving to third on the play.
Trimble scratched out an infield single to third, with Barrett racing home to tie the score, 5-5. After a walk to Reckling loaded the bases, Klein drew a walk to force in Stallings with the eventual winning run to make it 6-5.
