FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University women's rowing team will host its annual Mason Invitational on Saturday at Sandy Run Regional Park.
In the opening heats, A-10 program boats will compete against each other in Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ races. A group of CAA/MAAC/Big 12 programs will compete in those races in separate heats.
Then in the late afternoon, the top boats from each race will advance to the grand final, while the remaining competitors will advance to the petite final.
Mason will be joined by fellow A-10 programs Dayton, Duquesne and Saint Joseph's. From the the CAA/MAAC/Big 12 conferences, the Patriots also will welcome Delaware, Jacksonville, West Virginia and Villanova.

Joseph Richards said. "Saturday is going to be a real test for our team. We're looking forward to the challenge."
Last time out, the Patriots gained some critical race experience against good competition on during a solid day of racing on April 10 in Philadelphia.
Mason's Varsity 8+ highlighted the day. The boat made some outstanding progress from its season-opening race, placing second on Saturday in a time of 7:21.64. That time put Mason ahead of La Salle (7:24.64) and just behind Temple (7:10.79) on the water.
After Saturday, Mason remains on the Occoquan to host the George Cup against George Washington on Sunday, May 2.
