DAYTON, OHIO - The George Mason softball team dropped its final two games of a four-game series against Dayton on Sunday afternoon.
The Patriots lost the first game by a score of 1-0 and fell in the final game by a score of 2-1. Dayton swept the series from the Green & Gold and improved their record to 10-6 in conference play.
The two losses drop the Patriots' conference record to 9-11.
GAME ONE: Dayton 1, Mason 0
The Flyers plated a run in the bottom of the second and that was all Dayton needed to defeat the Patriots in game one.
The Patriots recorded four hits and left a total of seven runners on base.
Sophomore Haley Taormina went 1-for-2 with a hit and two walks for the Patriots.
Grad student Bekah Ansbro threw 6.0 innings, allowing eight hits and a run.
GAME TWO: Dayton 2, Mason 1
Mason got out to an early one-run lead when sophomore Annie Villalobos launched her fourth home run of the season over the left field wall.
The Flyers would bring the game to one run apiece in the bottom of the fifth. Dayton would then take the lead in the very next inning and hold that lead on the way to their 15th win of the season.
Grad student Bekah Ansbro would end up with the decision in both games for the Patriots. Ansbro's record is now 6-6 on the year after throwing 8.0 innings in two appearances on Sunday.

Mason will continue their slate away from Fairfax with a four-game series against George Washington, May 1-2, in Washington D.C.
