DAVIDSON, N.C. – The George Mason University women's lacrosse team fell in a Sunday road affair by the score of 16-4 to host Davidson.
Mason could not overcome a first half run by the Wildcats which effectively put the game out of reach. The Wildcats improved to 9-2 overall and 4-0 in A-10 play.
Senior
Niki Baker led Mason with two goals, placing 66.7 percent of her shots on goal. Fellow senior
Christina Romano joined Baker in the multi-point club, tallying a goal and an assist.
Sophomore
Chloe Reed continued her strong play of late, registering an assist to go along with a career-best seven draw controls. Freshman
Kate Antonelli also added a second-half score for the Green & Gold.
Mason put together a much-improved performance at the draw circle while holding a +3 (12-9) edge. The Patriots won 8-of-15 draw controls in the opening stanza.
Freshman
Mason Donohue put together a strong second half in cage for the second-straight game. They gave up just four second-half goals and made six saves on the day.
The Patriots trailed 2-1 at the 23:03 mark of the first half, but Davidson scored the final 10 goals of the half to create some distance between the teams at the break. They extended the run to 12 early in the second half.
Mason returns to action Wednesday (Apr. 14) with a home contest vs. No. 21 Navy. First draw is set for 5 p.m.
