The Patriots Battle the Bonnies on Friday & Saturday

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason softball team (9-5, 4-4 A-10) will continue their road trip with a four-game conference series against St. Bonaventure on Friday and Saturday.
 
Friday's doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m. ET, while Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin at noon ET. All games can be followed via live stats.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Patriots split a doubleheader at Towson last Saturday. The Patriots and Tigers went nine innings in the first game where Towson defeated Mason by a score of 3-2.
 
The Patriots bounced back in game two, dominating the Tigers 8-1 to cap off the weekend.
 
On Saturday, sophomore Rachel Warrens extended her hitting streak to three games, going 2-for-4 at the plate in game one and 1-for-3 in game two.
 
FIRST-YEAR SLUGGERS
Freshman duo Marlaina Bozek and Haley Taormina have been excelling at the plate for the Green & Gold in their first year.
 
Bozek currently leads Mason with a batting average of .313, along with four RBI on 10 hits and five runs scored for an OBP% of .389 and a slugging percentage of .344.
 
Taormina has gotten on base most frequently for Mason, leading the team in OBP% (.394). The second baseman has also earned six RBI on eight hits, including a triple, for a batting average of .286, which is third-best on the squad.
 
A LOOK AT THE BONNIES (0-10, 0-8 A-10)
St. Bonaventure has had a tough go in 2021. The Bonnies have yet win a game this season, getting outscored by their opposition 55-16 in their 10 games.
 
In the circle, the Bonnies have a team ERA of 4.92 and have yet to hold their opponents under one run in a game.
 
This weekend will be St. Bonaventure's first home series of the season.
 
HISTORY vs. ST. BONAVENTURE
Mason has controlled the series against the Bonnies as Mason is currently on a six-game winning streak against St. Bonaventure and have beat them in 13 of their last 14 meetings.
 
The two programs played each other earlier in the season, when the Patriots swept the four-game series from the Bonnies (March 13-14).
