FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University lacrosse team continues its two-game homestand with a Thursday night contest vs. VCU.
 
First draw between the Patriots and Rams inside George Mason Stadium is set for 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with live stats also available via GoMason.com.
 
LAST TIME OUT
For the second time in as many games Friday, the George Mason University women's lacrosse team put together a solid first half but could complete the performance for 60 minutes. Mason fell to Davidson 16-8 in the Patriots' home opener in Fairfax. Mason trailed by one (7-6) at the break and tied it up (7-7) early in the second stanza, but the Wildcats scored nine of the final 10 goals of the contest to take the win. The Patriots held a 22-18 edge in ground balls for the game, but Davidson was able to control the final portion of the contest by tallying a 10-2 second-half edge in draw controls.
 
PUT IT TOGETHER AND SEE WHAT YOU'VE GOT
Over the past two games, Mason has put together outstanding first halves but has been unable to carry the momentum forward into the second. The Patriots are +1 (12-11) in first-half goal differential over those two contests, but -16 (22-6) in second halves.
 
DONOGHUE ONE OF A KIND
On Friday vs. Davidson, senior Erin Donoghue became the seventh player in school history to score 100 career goals. She is now the only Mason player ever to record 100 goals and 200 draw controls in a career. Donoghue led Mason with a season-best four goals against the Wildcats.
 
HISTORY vs. VCU
Mason and VCU will meet for the fifth time on Thursday. The Patriots hold a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series. The teams first met in 2016, with Mason grabbing a 16-5 win. In the most recent matchup, VCU prevailed 13-12 on Apr. 20, 2019, in Richmond. Deanna Balsama notched four points (1g, 3a) in the contest.
 
A LOOK AT THE RAMS (4-4, 0-1 A-10)
VCU was picked seventh in the 2021 A-10 preseason poll. The Rams are 4-4 to begin the season and 0-1 to start A-10 play. Juliana George leads VCU with 33 points (20g, 13a) on the year, while Kerian Octavish has chipped in 19 goals and six assists. In the cage, Gillian Belfiore has posted a 10.36 goals against average and .521 save percentage.

Mason's scheduled game for Sunday at #20 Richmond has been postponed. Instead, the Patriots will head to Towson to take on the Tigers for the second time this season. Sunday's game will begin at 5 p.m.
