RALEIGH, N.C. – George Mason track and field student-athletes
Louisa Whittingham and
Hunter Jutras cracked into Mason's all-time outdoor record list on the first day of the Raleigh Relays.
Whittingham ran the fifth-fastest 10k in program history on Thursday night at Paul Derr Track. She notched a time of 35:41.86 to place 27th overall.
Jutras ran a personal-record time of 14:24.83 in the men's 5k to rank eighth all-time in program history. He finished 50th in a field that featured over 100 competitors.
Elsewhere on the track, freshman
Jarrett Flaker impressed in his first collegiate outdoor meet, placing 11th overall in the 100m preliminary round (10.77). Sophomore
Isaiah Carter was close behind in 15th with a time of 10.82.
In the men's 1500-meter race, sophomore
James Seal placed 42nd with a time of 3:49.39.
Colin Cannon (65th),
Jake Lonsdale (71st),
Reid Sharkey (85th) and
Joseph Queen (87th) also competed in the event for the Green & Gold.
In the field events, sophomore
Hannah Rosenfeld placed seventh in the women's javelin. She recorded a personal-best mark of 45.40m in her first event since May 11, 2019.
Senior
Jaylen Simmons led Mason's throwers, taking seventh in the men's shot put with a toss of 17.11m.
Benjamin Viau tabbed 12th in the event (15.95m), followed by
Avory Ransome in 14th (15.28m) and
Aaron Lomax in 18th (15.01m).
