Fairfax, Va. -- The women's tennis team defeated Coppin State, 6-1, at the George Mason Tennis Courts this afternoon. The Patriots move to 1-1 on the spring season.

Mason got on the board with a sweep of the doubles matches. The Patriots earned the next three points in singles before dropping one match. All 10 players on the roster saw action on the court.

Top singles player Paige La earned a sweep in singles, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 singles the Patriots Savanna Crowell followed a competitive 6-3 first-set win to a sweep in the second set, 6-0. Ashley Fitz-Patrick cruised to a two-set win, 6-0, 6-3 at the number four singles position.

The Green & Gold will face A-10 Conference foe La Salle at home Saturday at 1 p.m.
