Patriots Begin Conference Slate Against St. Bonaventure

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason softball team (2-0) will continue their 14-game March homestand with a four-game series with St. Bonaventure on Saturday, March 13, and Sunday, March 14.

Both dates are set to begin at noon inside the George Mason Softball Complex. The contests will mark the Patriots' first conference games of the season, playing against central division foe St. Bonaventure. The central division also includes Dayton, Saint Louis and George Washington.

LAST TIME OUT
Mason swept Saint Joseph's in the Patriots' season-opening doubleheader last weekend. The Green & Gold won the first game by a score of 10-6, and won the second game by a score of 8-0 (six innings).

Senior Meghan Graham paced the Patriots with four hits on five at-bats, including three RBI and three walks for a batting average of .800 and an OBP of .875 on the weekend.

Junior Taylor Dadig and freshman Marlaina Bozek each went 4-for-7 over the two games with three RBI apiece.

In game two, senior Haellie Gordon recorded a complete game shutout, surrendering only six hits and a walk in 6.0 innings pitched, including four strikeouts.

The starting pitcher went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Patriots with a two-run RBI double in the fourth inning.

A LOOK AT THE BONNIES (2020: 2-7)
St. Bonaventure will begin their 2021 slate in Fairfax, Va. this weekend. It has been more than a year since the Bonnies have played. The last time they were on the diamond was March 7, 2020 against Central Michigan.

The Bonnies were picked to finish ninth in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll in February, two spots behind the Patriots.

HISTORY vs. ST. BONAVENTURE
Mason has won nine of the last 10 against the Bonnies, outscoring St. Bonaventure 63-18 in those games.

This will be the first meeting between the two programs since April 28, 2019, when the Patriots defeated the Bonnies by a score of 8-1.

TICKETING INFO/SAFETY PROTOCOLS
During the 2021 season, the George Mason Softball Complex will have a capacity of 50 spectators, limited to Mason team guests (Photo ID required) and students. Tickets will not be available to the public or visiting teams. Fans will be required to sit in a social-distanced marked pod of two (2) in the bleachers and have on a face covering at all times.
