Mason Patriots at #21 Navy

The George Mason wrestling team travels to No. 21 Navy for a Friday night match inside Alumni Hall.
The teams are scheduled to wrestle a traditional 10-bout, team-scored dual while the two programs will also wrestle extra matches that will count towards an individual's season record. Simultaneous to the dual, the Navy and George Mason "2's" will wrestle on a second mat. At the conclusion of the dual, two mats will again be utilized with matches featuring Navy "1's" vs. George Mason "2's" and George Mason "1's" vs. "Navy "2's."
The match is closed to fans due to current public health guidelines in the state of Maryland, the dual is slated to begin at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
The Patriots will complete the shortened regular season with a tri meet against American and Drexel on February 10 beginning at Noon. The match will be held in the George Mason Field House. Due to current public health guidelines
spectators are not currently permitted in the Field House for the home Mason wrestling match.
Match Notes:
- All-time, the Midshipmen are 11-0 vs. George Mason. Navy won last season's match (Feb. 6, 2020), 23-14 at Mason.
- Mason's Josh Jones earned a 9-8 decision against Navy's Casey Cobb at 133 pounds in last season's match. Both moved weight classes this season, Jones to 125 and Cobb to 149. Mason's Paul Pierce won with a technical fall over Andrew Buckley, 20-5 (6:02).
- Transfer from Presbyterian Sam "Austin" Stith is off to a 3-0 start for Mason at 197 pounds.
- Navy has three individuals who are ranked among InterMat's top 20 - No. 12 Cody Trybus (141), No. 12 Tanner Skidgel(165) and No. 19 Jacob Koser (197)
