FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason golf head coach Greg Pieczynski announced the addition JD Dornes to his staff as an assistant coach.
 
Dornes was a standout player at Penn State and a successful professional golfer playing on various PGA Tours. 
 
The native of Lancaster, Pa., earned a finance degree in 2016 at Penn state where he was a two-time Academic All American in 2015 and 2016 for the Lions. He was a U.S. Amateur Qualifier in 2013 and 2014, and a 2014 U.S. Open Qualifier.
 
As a professional golfer, Dornes was a member of the PGA Latinoamerica and the Korn Ferry Tour, competing both nationally and internationally. Utilizing his finance degree, Dornes managed business travel and tournament finances and created an LLC financial proposal for the investment team.
 
After touring, Dornes spent one year as a ticket account manager for the Washington Wizards.
