Fairfax, Va.— The George Mason wrestling team defeated the LIU Sharks, 24-16, today in a non-conference dual inside the RAC.
 
Long Island (0-1) jumped out to a 7-0 lead with wins at 125 and 133 pounds. The Patriots (4-1) won the next two matches by forfeit before stringing off three straight wins and a 24-7 lead. LIU took the final three matches for the final score, 24-16.
 
The Patriots will compete at the Patriot Open tomorrow at the Mason Field House, beginning at 10 a.m.

• Sophomore Tyler Kocak (165) and freshman Logan Messer (174) improved to 11-2 on the season.
• Messer earned his second fall of the season with a fall against Thomas DeGennaro (1:16).

SUNDAY'S PATRIOT OPEN
The Patriots will participate in the Patriot Open on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. in the Mason Field House. Close to 300 wrestlers are registered for the Patriot Open from Campbell, Columbia, Davidson, Drexel, Ferrum, Maryland, Navy, Penn, Rider, Sacred Heart, VT, UVA, VMI, and WVU.
 
Admission to the Patriot Open for all George Mason students and faculty is free with valid and current college ID. General admission is $15 for adults, $5.00 for HS students, pre-HS free.
