Fairfax, Va.— The George Mason wrestling team edged the American Eagles, 20-16, at Bender Arena tonight. The win was the first against the Eagles since the 2007-08 season, snapping a 10-match winless streak in the series.
The match began with the heavyweights and a 6-2 decision for American's Isaac Righter against
Ramses Montalvo. The Eagles (0-3) soared to a 13-0 lead in the first three matches before freshman
Kaden Cassidy earned a 11-6 decision against AU's Ethan Szerecsits at 141 pounds. The Patriots (3-1) took its first lead of the match, 17-16, when 184-pounder
Kyle Davis recorded a major decision against the Eagles Connor Bourne, 14-3. In the deciding match at 197-pounds, Mason's Austin Stith earned a 14-7 win against Will Jarrell.
