FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason women's cross country student-athlete
Annabelle Eastman has been named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Eastman, a native of Melbourne, Australia, finished 19th out of nearly 350 runners in the women's Gold 6k at the Paul Short Run on Oct. 1. The Patriots placed 11th out of 38 teams thanks to Eastman's top-20 performance.
She posted a personal-best time of 20:30.0 in the 6k. She dropped nearly 54 seconds off her previous personal-best time of 21:23.8 – set at the 2020-21 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
This marks the third Atlantic 10 cross country weekly honor of Eastman's career, and first of the 2021 season.
Her performance also helped Mason move up four spots in the U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association Regional Rankings. The Patriots now rank 11th in the Southeast Region.
Mason returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 16 for the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
