FAIRFAX, Va. -- The George Mason wrestling team will host wrestle-offs Friday night at 7 p.m. in the RAC. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
Wrestle-offs provide fans a firsthand look at the Patriots 2021-22 roster.
Head Coach
Frank Beasley will provide commentary during the matches. Junior
Josh Jones and senior
Paul Pierce will coach the two teams.
Mason opens up the 2021-22 season at the South East Open, Sunday, Nov. 7 in Roanoke, Va.

125 – Ben Monn and Josh Pence
Monn is a freshman who finished 3-3 last season with a win over a former national qualifier. He is a three-time Pennsylvania AAA state place-winner for Cumberland Valley high school. Pence is a true freshman from nearby Robinson High School. He is a 2021 Virginia 6A State Champion and finished third in the state as a junior.
133 – Luke Albanese, Cole Anders, Anthony Glasl, Michael Rapuano, and Pat Schellpfeffer
Albanese and Anders are freshman who did not see any action in the short season last year. Albanese is a Massachusetts State Champion and three time top-three place finisher in the Massachusetts State tournament. Anders is a three-time state finalist in Virginia and two-time state champion.
Glasl is a freshman who was the starter at this weight last season and won the team academic award. He made a huge jump since last season. In high school, he was a three-time Pennsylvania state place winner.
Rapuano is a true freshman from Connecticut who was unable to compete in a New England State Championships last year due to COVID-19. The previous two seasons, he finished 3
rd in the New England State Championships.
Schellpfeffer is a freshman who wrestled two bouts last year. He was a three-time North Carolina state qualifier in high school.
141 – Kaden Cassidy, Nate Higley, and Shawn Nonaka
Cassidy makes his long-awaited debut. He committed to Mason in 2018 during his junior season. He grey shirted last season and is a true freshman this year. He was a Pennsylvania State Champion and finished third in his other two appearances at the state tournament. In addition, he was a top 100 recruit nationally.
Higley is a true freshman. He was a three-time Pennsylvania state place winner, finishing runner-up this past season.
Nonaka is a redshirt freshman who started for us last season at the conference championships.
149 – Kalob Jewett and Alex Madrigal
Jewett is a redshirt freshman who missed last season with an injury. He redshirted the previous season as he transferred in that spring.
Madrigal is a graduate student who qualified for the NCAA Championships twice and was an NCAA Alternate. He was the nations technical fall leader in 2019-2020.
165 – Drew Dickson, Tyler Kocak, Loranzo Rajaonarievlo, and Anthony Robinson
Dickson is a redshirt freshman who missed last season with an injury. He competed in several open tournaments the previous season.
Tyler Kocak is a freshman who wrestled a couple of matches last season. In high school, he was a state place winner in Pennsylvania.
Rajaonarievlo is a redshirt freshman. He did not compete in any matches last season.
Robinson is a redshirt freshman. He competed in just one match last season but placed in the East Stroudsburg Open the previous season.
174 – Logan Messer and Jeremy Seymour
Messer is a true freshman who was a top 100 recruit this past season. He was an Ohio large school state champion as a senior, did not have a state tournament as a junior, had an injury as a sophomore and placed 5
th in Ohio as a freshman.
Seymour is a sophomore who did not compete in any matches last year. He saw time in our starting lineup his first year on campus.
197/285 – Jon List and Ramses Montalvo
List is a true freshman. He was a two-time Ohio big school state place winner as a senior and sophomore (there was no state tournament in Ohio his junior year because of COVID).
Montalvo is a redshirt sophomore who has seen time in our lineup in the past at both 197 and heavyweight.
