FULL SCHEDULE
FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason softball program has unveiled their 2021 schedule. The season includes 45 regular season games, 29 contests at the George Mason Softball Complex and 16 games on the road.
The Patriots will compete against five different Atlantic 10 programs, compiling a 21-game conference schedule.
NON-CONFERENCE SLATE
Aside from the Patriots' home contest against Georgetown (April 28) and road game against Towson (March 28), each non-conference meeting will be a doubleheader.
Mason's non-conference schedule features 17 home games, beginning their season with a four-game homestand against Norfolk State on Feb. 13-14. Both days to be started at noon.
The Patriots travel to Radford for their first road trip of the season to battle the Highlanders on Friday, Feb. 26, at 3 p.m. Radford then greets Mason in Fairfax to battle at the George Mason Softball Complex on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m.
The Green & Gold continue a long, 18-game homestand to begin March, hosting Bryant on March 6-7. Both dates are set to begin at noon.
Pennsylvania then comes to Fairfax to face Mason for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, March 10, at 2 p.m.
A week later, the Patriots host Morgan State for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday, March 17, at 2 p.m.
In the middle of conference play, Mason will go on a five-game non-conference slate with home contests against Howard (March 24) and road battles against Towson (March 27-28).
The Patriots finish up non-conference play with a meeting versus Georgetown (April 28) and will meet Morgan State in Baltimore, Md. (May 5).
A-10 SCHEDULE
Mason begins their conference play in the middle of the 18-game homestand, hosting St. Bonaventure for a three-game weekend on March 13-14.
The Patriots host George Washington for a Saturday doubleheader on March 20, starting at noon. The Colonials return to the George Mason Softball Complex the following day to play a single game on March 21, scheduled first pitch is 1 p.m.
The Green & Gold begin their first conference road trip on April 1 for a Thursday doubleheader against St. Bonaventure at noon. The Bonnies host the Patriots again on Friday, April 2, with first pitch set for noon.
Mason then hosts Saint Louis (April 10-11) and travels to Dayton (April 17-18) to end conference play in the month of April.
George Washington meets the Patriots for a second time on May 1-2 for Mason's final conference road games.
The Green & Gold finish the season hosting La Salle for a doubleheader on Saturday, May 8, beginning at noon.
The Patriots will have their Senior Day on May 9 against La Salle to conclude the 2021 season.
ABOUT THE PATRIOTS
Mason finished a short 2020 season with an overall record of 7-12. The Patriots finished the year winning four of their final five games before the season was ended due to the spread of COVID-19.
The Green & Gold return nine letterwinners, including two starters from the pitching rotation last season. The Patriots also welcome back junior
Taylor Dadig (.354), sophomore
Rachel Warrens (.326) and senior
Meghan Graham (.311) who all led Mason in batting average in 2020.
Interim head coach
Justin Walker enters the 2021 season in his first year in the new role. This will be Walker's fourth year with the Patriots after spending the past three seasons assisting.
