Lacrosse Announces 2021 Schedule

FAIRFAX, Va. -
The George Mason University women's lacrosse program has announced its 2021 schedule, which includes seven challenging non-conference games and eight regionally-based A-10 contests.
 
Of the program's 15 games, only one (April 11 at Davidson) will be played outside the Virginia/DC/Maryland hub.
 
"As the collegiate sports landscape continues to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, we could not be more excited and thankful to have the opportunity to compete this spring," head coach Kara Mupo said. "We are just about a little over a week into our preseason and the team is full of energy, excitement and a laser focus on getting one percent better every single time we take the field together. As a program, our focus for this entire year has and will continue to be structured around growth, as we continue to pave the way for this new era of George Mason Lacrosse."
 
The Patriots will open their spring campaign at Patriot League power Navy on Saturday, February 13. First draw in Annapolis is scheduled for 11 a.m. The Midshipmen have won NCAA Tournament contests in three-consecutive seasons (2017-19) and were ranked No. 21 in the IWLCA Poll when the 2020 season ended in March.
 
Mason then returns to Fairfax to take on Big South foe Longwood in the program's home opener on Saturday, February 20. That contest is scheduled for 2 p.m.
 
The Patriots wrap up the month with a Sunday contest at Towson on February 28 (1 p.m.). The Tigers have gone 19-5 in the CAA since the 2016 season and have earned three NCAA berths during that span.
 
Mason continues non-conference play with a trip to Harrisonburg to battle 2018 National Champion and perennial NCAA title contender James Madison on March 3. The Dukes were ranked seventh in the nation when the 2020 season concluded.
 
The Patriots then head to the Roanoke Valley to play at Radford on Saturday, March 6, before wrapping up the road trip in Charlottesville against Virginia on March 10. The Cavaliers have earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament in 24-consecutive seasons.
 
Mason opens Atlantic 10 play with a contest at Revolutionary Rival George Washington on March 20, before taking on Davidson on March 26 inside George Mason Stadium (5 p.m.). The Green & Gold wrap up the homestand vs. VCU on April 1 (4 p.m.).
 
After playing at Richmond on April 3, Mason hosts George Washington on April 9 (6 p.m.). The Patriots battle Davidson in North Carolina on April 11, then take a quick break from A-10 play to host American on April 14 (5 p.m.).
 
As part of the contest vs. American, Mason will raise awareness for pediatric cancer while working with Go 4 The Goal to Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer
 
The Patriots wrap up their home schedule with Richmond on April 18 (12 p.m.) and then play their regular season finale at VCU on April 23 .
 
The A-10 Championship will be held April 30-May 2 at the campus of the highest seed. Four teams will advance to the league tournament in 2021.
