CSCAA Release
FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued their outstanding performance in the classroom in 2019-20, with five student-athletes named to the 2020 Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
Jacquee Clabeaux and
Marina Toone earned the honor on the women's team, while
Logan Eubanks,
Luke DeVore and
Ryan Donnelly earned the honor on the men's team.
The award recognizes students who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship. Selections were drawn from 209 colleges and universities.
Clabeaux, a native of Fairfax, Va., won the 2020-Atlantic 10 title in the 100-yard breaststroke with a NCAA B qualifying time of 1:00.31. She placed fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke at the A-10 Championships with a time of 2:14.59.
A biology major, Clabeaux was named Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Women's University Division Swimming and Diving All-State Second Team.
In her first season with the Patriots, Clabeaux led the women's team with 19 top-three finishes and 14 first-place finishes during the 2019-20 season.
Toone, from Doylestown, Pa., made the podium in both diving events at the 2020 Atlantic 10 Championships held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Toone won the silver in the one-meter springboard event with a finals score of 264.20. She earned her second medal of the week, winning the silver in the three-meter dive with a finals score of 293.00.
A Kinesiology major, Toone finished the season with seven top-three finishes.
DeVore, from Haymarket, Va., swept the butterfly events and won three individual medals overall at the 2020 Atlantic 10 Championships.
DeVore, an environmental science major, claimed the A-10 title in the 200-yard butterfly, setting an Atlantic 10 Conference and meet record with a time of 1:45.83. He also won the 100-yard butterfly, winning the gold with a time of 47.82 and took the bronze in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:47.57.
Selected VaSID Rookie Swimmer of the Year, DeVore finished his freshman season with 11 top-three finishes.
Donnelly, a native of Raleigh, N.C., was selected to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team for the second straight year. He won five medals, two individual and three relay, at the 2020 A-10 Championships to help the Patriots win their first Men's Swimming and Diving title in program history.
A finance major, Donnelly won the A-10 Championship in the 200-yard backstroke with a NCAA B qualifying time of 1:44.08. He also claimed the bronze with a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 47.86.
Eubanks, from Suffolk, Va., won three medals at the 2020 Atlantic 10 Championships. He won the A-10 title in the 100-yard backstroke with a NCAA B qualifying time of 46.65 and took silver in the 200-yard backstroke with a NCAA B qualifying time of 1:44.68.
A chemistry major, Eubanks was also a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that took the top spot on the podium and set a program record at the A-10 Championships with a time of 1:27.20.Â
Eubanks finished the 2019-2020 regular season with nine top-three finishes and tied for third on the team with five first-place finishes. He was selected to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Swimming and Diving Team.
