FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason softball team (5-11) defeated Cornell 9-1 in six innings on Saturday to conclude the second day of the Mason Invitational.
Sophomore Taylor Dadig and junior Amelia Ely both earned a pair of RBIs on the night, both going 2-for-4 with a double. Ely also earned a RBI triple.
Redshirt junior Adriana Erickson and freshman Rachel Warrens each recorded a RBI of their own in the contest. Along with the RBI, Erickson crossed the plate twice. Sophomore Anna DiMari earned a
triple for Mason in the victory.
Graduate student Bekah Ansbro tallied her second win of the season, allowing only one earned run on two hits in 6.0 innings of work. Ansbro notched a season high nine strikeouts in her appearance on Saturday. The Woodstock, Va. native has had recent success against the Big Red as her career best for strikeouts in one outing came against Cornell last season on March 15 (13 strikeouts).
Mason recorded five first inning runs to jump out to a big, early lead. The offensive pressure continued for the Green & Gold, scoring four more runs in the final five innings.
The Patriots have started the Mason Invitational hot. Mason has tallied 23 runs on 20 hits in 11 innings of play over the last two days (two games). Mason will look to take this momentum into Sunday in the final day of the invitational.

Mason will host Buffalo and Hofstra in back-to-back games in the final day of the Mason Invitational tomorrow. The first game (Buffalo) is set to start at approximately 12:15 p.m.
