WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The George Mason baseball team fell to William & Mary, 13-3, on Wednesday at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg, Va.
Mason (0-10) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second against Tribe junior starter Jacob Haney, but William & Mary (5-8) responded with six runs in the home half of the inning against Patriots' sophomore starter
Jared Lyons and sophomore reliever
Nate Young to go in front 6-1.
The Tribe tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third to make the score 8-1.
The Patriots got two back in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 8-3, but the Tribe would score a single run in the sixth and four more in the seventh for the 13-3 final score.
Lyons (0-1) allowed four runs on three hits and struck out three in 1.1 innings and took the loss. Young surrendered four runs, three earned, on five hits in 3.1 innings. Sophomore

Matthew Sykes allowed four runs in his outing.
The Patriots used six pitchers in the game.
Haney (1-3) allowed three runs on six hits and struck out five in 5.0 innings to earn his first win of the season for the Tribe. Three William & Mary relievers combined to toss 4.0 scoreless innings.

Bailey Klein went 2-for-4 with two RBI, freshman infielder
Corey Leadenham was 2-for-4 and drove in a run, and junior outfielder
Cam Reckling finished 2-for-5 and scored a run.
William & Mary scored 13 runs on 10 hits, while the Patriots scored three runs on eight hits in the game.
The Patriots return home for a three-game series against Winthrop beginning Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Spuhler Field.
